Obba Babatunde (C.C. White) whose melodious name also reflects the magnetism of his talents, has been named by masters of the entertainment industry as "quite special." In the past two years he has shared the stage with Liza Minnelli in her world tour Liza in Concert, where he received international critical acclaim in his spotlighted moment as Mr. Cellophane Man, as well as the memorable performance in "Baryshnikov On Broadway," a television special where he is featured with Nell Carter and Mikhail Baryshnikov. New York audiences will remember Obba from Broadway's It's So Nice To Be Civilized, as Rockets in Reggae, and in the lavish Timbuktu!, as well as Guys and Dolls with Leslie Uggams. Mr. Babatunde just finished taping Scott Joplin's opera, Tremonisha, to be released this fall on national television, in which he co-stars as Zodzetrick, the Conjurer.
Recently, Obba was performing in musicals again, portraying Billy Flynn in the national tour of Chicago. He is very active in film.
