Deborah Burrell (Deena Jones / Michelle Morris / Stepp Sister)
, a native of Trinidad, made her Broadway debut in The Wiz,
eventually achieving the principal role of Glinda, the Good Witch of the South. Since then she has been seen on Broadway in Eubie!, Comin' Uptown
and It's So Nice To Be Civilized.
She has played Thelma in the national company of One Mo' Time.
She has appeared on many television shows including "The Mike Douglas Show," and The 1977 Emmy Awards. She is delighted to include in her list of credits the fact that she has sung the National Anthem for the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden. She is currently preparing a solo album.
After appearing as Michelle in the 1st national tour of Dreamgirls, she appeared as Deena in the 2nd tour. In 1992, Deborah returned to Broadway in The High Rollers Social and Pleasure Club. She was a featured performer in Swinging On A Star three seasons later. Her sister is Terry Burrell.
